I spent a downright delightful morning with sweet Karsten & Hazel. Everything about it joyfully embodied childhood autumn–the air was clean and crisp, cool enough for cozy sweaters, yet warm enough for coatless shuffles through ankle deep leaves. These curious twins spent our time hunting sticks, counting buckeyes, darting across the expansive Arboretum lawn, and arranging striking chestnut leaf bouquets. I was a student to Karsten’s magnificent knowledge of a working farm, and I absorbed Hazel’s infectious laughter. I felt so energized by our session!
For more reasons than one, I feel connected to this by Jim Bishop:
“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.”
I love this picture from our photography session! It is pure joy!
Karsten finds handfuls of Buckeyes. He collects them in his pockets and gives more to his mother to hold.

A bouquet of buckeye leaves for everyone! We love all the fall treasures at the UW-Arb! It’s a wonderful place to explore for a lifestyle photo session with kids!
It’s snowing out my window this morning. Let me document a winter’s day in the Arb with your family—making tracks with sticks & boots, creating a snow family, hiking the softly padded trails Contact me today to schedule your snow session! Jen@JenLucasPhotography.com
Sarah shared these thoughts on working with me:
Jen is a wonderful photographer and after working with her twice (once to capture photos of just my kids, once for a story-telling session), I would hire no one else. She is personable, flexible, creative and — most of all– takes beautiful photos! Hire her and you will not regret it. Rather, you’ll have a lovely time and treasure the memories she captures for years.
Thank you, Sarah and twins! You can find more sessions with this adorable family here & here! You’ll love to see how much they’ve grown through the years!
xo,
Jen
