Madison Newborn Photographer | Hi-FIVE

Before the mountains call to you, before you leave this home

I want to teach your heart to trust, as I will teach my own

But sometimes I will ask the moon where it shined upon you last

And shake my head and laugh and say, “It all went by so fast.”

 — Dar Williams, “The One Who Knows,” from The Beauty in the Rain

Kristin shared her thoughts on working with me here–before Mabel was born. So, it’s always an honor when I get asked back into the home, the quietest, most special place in your life:

I will never be able to thank Jen enough for what she did for our family. Since my sons have been born, like many parents, we have tried to make an effort to have some “nice” pictures taken of the kids. What Jen gave to us was so much more than simple portrait, semi-staged pictures of our sons.
We were fortunate enough to spend a beautiful summer morning with Jen. Being a mom herself, she jumped right into the crazy world that is living with little boys. She interacted with our sons getting them to show her their rooms, their favorite toys, blankets and books. She followed them outside as they picked vegetables out of our garden.
The pictures Jen took completely captured this moment in our lives — lego-filled and all. The images are genuine and show my sons’ personalities in a way that no portrait ever will. While I will always be grateful for the pictures of my sons, I will never forget that Jen’s pictures made me see all of the beauty in our chaos-filled home and remind me how blessed I am to be surrounded by such love. She truly has a unique vision and shined a light on things that we can sometimes be too busy to see.

xo, Jen
