Madison Newborn Photographer | Louis

The dry, fallen leaves scraped along the sweeping path to Emily & Andy’s doorstep, which was freshly adorned with three delightful pumpkins. Sweet pup, Maizey, bathed in the gentle warmth of a morning fire, while the coffee burbled in the kitchen.  The newly brisk autumn air swirled outside, yet all was toasty and soft inside–in the way that is gentle and welcoming and comfortable.  Baby Louis was swaddled into dreamland and all was right with the world.

Emily and Andy spent the morning swaying, smiling, and cuddling with Louis.  We gently padded around their home, finding light on a dreary October day in the bedrooms, the nursery, the lovely cradle in the dining room.  They watched him stretch, yawn, sleep with much sweetness and love.  After a couple hours, Louis’s parents bundled him up and reached for the door, setting out for one of the countless family walks they’ll take in the gorgeous neighborhood.

In documenting, I gravitate to all the beautifully ordinary events of those first few days at home: feeding, changing, pacing, holding, sleeping.   Being real.  Because real is perfect.  It is such an honor to witness those quiet/noisy, sleepy/sleepless, fumbling/calm first days at home, and that gift is never lost on me.Madison Newborn Photography_0001
