The S Family | madison family photographer

October is such a mercurial month–second only to April.    There is no rhyme or reason to why it is 80 degrees today and will be 45 in 48 short hours, or how, seemingly overnight, the autumnal hues extend as far as the eye can see to merely gathered at your ankles.  Silly little month.  We knew we hit the Weather Jackpot on this session day:  gorgeous color clinging to branches; light so thick and warm, honey-like, dripping off the leaves well into the sunset; cotton candy clouds floating in turquoise skies.

This beautiful family was thoroughly engaged, thrilled to play & explore the lovely snippet of what  UW-Madison Arboretum has to offer on an autumn eve.   Imagine bright curious eyes, infectious laughter, and the full of joy that comes with genuine connection to others.  There were moments of inquisitive stillness as this sweet 9-month-old cherub discovered crisp crimson leaves, and there were stretches of the unbridled happiness that comes with being a 2-year-old boy in an endless wispy sea of green space.

This family and I both have soft spots in our hearts for trees–documenting life events around living pillars of strength and beauty.   It was such an honor to capture this young foursome in this blink in time, surrounded by an assembly of protective delicate anchors.

On that note, next year’s photography session destination is sailboat bound for this nautical crew!

Jen
